In 2002, An Yan (played by Tong Liya), who had just graduated, was assigned to teach at Changzhi County Peace Middle School. Born in the city, she struggled to adapt to the teaching environment and philosophy of rural schools at first. However, with the in-depth relationship with students and home visits, An Yan gradually realized the importance of rural education and felt the value of "being needed". In 2012, An Yan served as the vice principal in charge of logistics at Heping Middle School to promote the implementation of "nutritious lunch". In 2016, An Yan was appointed as the principal of the relocated school. In the face of a weak teaching foundation and a complex student situation, An Yan led a group of outstanding rural teachers to solve the problems one by one and create a high-quality learning environment for the children. The rural teachers, represented by An Yan, have been working tirelessly to help groups of students in mountain villages to reach a broader world.
