After Mu Lan returns home, she is ostracized due to both racism and sexism. She starts her life anew in the present time of peace, and begin on a journey to find her self worth. During the Northern Wei Dynasty, Hua Mulan, a young girl from a military family, took her elderly's father's place in military service. She thought that since she learned martial arts since young, she would be able to live a fulfilling life in the army. However, she was interrogated by the intelligence agency, Bai Lu, and sent to the lowest tier team of the Hei Shan Camp. Despite this, Mulan still led her comrades on an extraordinary path of ascension. From fleeing for their lives during a sneak attack by Rouran; disguising as dancers and sneaking into the Merchants Castle to recover their lost secret weapons; and successfully killing the great Rouran General. But when she witnesses her close friends dying on the battlefield, army slaves creating chaos due to the camp whistle, and meeting her former friends-turned-enemies in battle, she knew that the war is not the solution to achieving peace. After returning from war, Mulan uses her merits in exchange for three years of peace. Mulan then chooses to guard the Northern Wei Border, and together with her former comrade-in-arms Di Yefei, they lead the people to rebuild their homeland together.
